Charly Mandon is a multi-faceted artist - composer, conductor and filmmaker. He entered the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) at the age of 16 and studied with teachers as Jean-François Zygel, Thierry Escaich, Michaël Levinas, Guillaume Connesson. Currently he is preparing a Master's degree in orchestra conducting at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.
As a composer, he has written some 15 works that have been premiered by some of the most brilliant musicians of the young generation, as pianists Vanessa Benellli Mosell or Lucas Debargue. In 2015 his « Mouvement perpétuel » for violin and piano was premiered by Hildegarde Fesneau and Éliane Reyes in the festival Musique en Côte de Nacre and given anew in festivals and concert halls such as Festival de Prades, Teatro Marcello in Roma or Hôtel de Soubise in Paris. « Three miniature concerts » of his works were given in the Festival de la Roche-Posay at the invitation of Jérôme Pernoo, and in december he was the first composer to take part in the «Freshly Composed» of the Centre de Musique de chambre de Paris which resulted in 6 miniature concerts of his works in the Salle Cortot. Future composing invitations include Resident Composer at the Festival «ClassicoFolies» of Millau in April 2016 and at the competition Plumes et Partitions of Quimper in March 2017.
In his video works Charly Mandon combines the natural rhythm of a musician with the bright sensibility of a photographer to create highly distinctive and stylish music videos. His work is visually striking and captures the innate intimacy of musical performance. Charly directed the highly regarded live transmissions with multiple cameras for the prestigious international competition Long-Thibaud-Crespin 2015.
The piano of the future
The film was realized by Charly Mandon for the presentation of a revolutionary instrument, a result of a collaboration between the manufacturer of pianos Pleyel and Peugeot Design (piano : Vanessa Benelli Mosell).

The competition Long-Thibaud-Crespin is one of the most prestigious international competitions. The 2015 issue was dedicated to piano. Charly Mandon realized a teaser which mixes images from the archive and interviews with members of the jury and former winners.

Satie : the Indispensable
On the occasion of Erik Satie’s 150th anniversary, Durand-Salabert-Eschig (Universal Music Publishing France) and the City of Arcueil commissioned Music&Arts Networks to create a web documentary on the iconoclast composer. This 16 minute short film explores the place of Satie in Music History and discusses his life as citizen for Arcueil. Produced by François Dru and directed by Elisabeth Renault-Geslin.
Based on John Cage’s writings, Satie the Indispensable presents interviews from the highly renowned musicologist Ornella Volta, the pianists Bertrand Chamayou and Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Emmanuel Hondré (Philharmonie de Paris’ Artistic Director), Laurent Melon (Painter) and Juliette Mant (City of Arcueil- Deputy Mayor for Culture).
