The LSO String Ensemble under Roman Simovic (LSO’s leader) performs F.Schubert/G.Mahler’s  Death and the Maiden, and D.Shostakovich/R Bashai). This is the second LSO String Ensemble release on LSO live. Roman Simovic says about the coupling: “the similarity between them /…/, is that they’re both extremely dark- two different tragedies about death. /…/ I was told by many colleagues not to do it because it’s a killer ! But I was very satisfied with the final sound and energy-it’s quite unique”. This Cd shows us once again the amazing level of the LSO String section members.

This performance was recorded live at the Barbican Centre in London. The LSO String was filmed during this performance in 360VR by WeMakeVR.com, pioneers in virtual reality technology, and this rich footage will be used as a support for the release of this album. The LSO is clearly at the forefront of innovation!
