Aparté Records Label
The label
History
In 1989 Nicolas Bartholomée founded Musica Numeris, a firm widelyrecognised for the quality of its sound recording and postproduction in thefield of classical music. During the years he spent with the firm, hundreds ofCDs were recorded, and by the late 1990s it had become one of the most prolificexecutive producers, working with numerous record companies.
In 1999 Nicolas Bartholomée created the Ambroisie label (now owned by Naïve Records),which for ten years he directed with great enthusiasm, becoming involved in thelaunching of talented young artists. Then 2008 saw the creation of LittleTribeca – a high-performance structure, on the cutting edge of technologicalrevolutions, and a favoured partner of artists and record companies – and atthe same time of a new label, Aparté.
TheAparté label
Driven by aprofound desire to raise the standards of recording and sound processing,Nicolas Bartholomée created a studio that can be described as a veritableresearch laboratory, with perfection as its constant aim. Every stage in theprocess matters: choice of repertoire and acoustics, choice of microphones andtheir positioning, postproduction, the quality of the CD itself and itspresentation (iconography, liner notes, etc.).
NicolasBartholomée uses the exceptional techniques available in his studio for thebenefit of the artists with whom he works and to whose wishes, opinions andfeelings he is ever attentive. Aparté creates strong relationships with artistsin a microeconomic framework that always leaves room for creativity. It encouragessuccessful partnerships with key players in European musical life, promotes itsproducts everywhere using all media, and is at the forefront of technologicalrevolutions currently underway.
The Aparté label thus defies the gloom of a reputedly depressed market. The members of itsconstantly expanding team all possess the human qualities that create thespecial relationships with artists that are so important. They also workwith managers to promote the artists’ careers by organising concert toursto coincide with or anticipate new releases. Aparté aims to be perfectly fairto artists in every way, and to be at the forefront as regards communicationand transmission. Aparté uses every possible means of distribution and for thisit works in partnership with Harmonia Mundi. Since its very first release, thelabel has been dis- tributed in more than fifty countries worldwide. It is alsoavailable on most download sites.
Many of theartists who accompany Aparté are confirmed musicians, such as Christophe Roussetand Les Talens Lyriques, Ophélie Gaillard, Romain Leleu, Blandine Verlet,Xavier Sabata, Michel Dalberto, and others. But its mission is also to find newtalent, and Nicolas Bartholomée continues, via his label, to reveal the fineyoung artists of today – Julie Fuchs, Louis Schwizgebel, the Novus Quartet,Lise Berthaud … – who will be the great musicians of tomorrow.
